Went over my numbers required for graduation today and have firmly established that I am fit to graduate! This is exciting. I've got 6 more days left on call, then a week to study for the mother of all exams and then the two day exam - and that's it - my student days are over (again). I know I've talked about how I feel about this - about how I have never actually worked for any significant time - I graduated high school in 1995 and I've been in post-secondary pretty much ever since.....

This is the first time I'm going to be working doing something I like though - so it's a bit different. Plus, I think it's just that time. The beauty of midwifery though, is that I'll still sort of be living my life in 4 month chunks - 3 months on, 1 month off - just like school, except now I'll get paid alot of money for what I do.

I'm excited to make money because I'm excited to get on with my five year plan which includes paying off the mortgage, paying off $80,000 in student loans, having a baby and buying a mini-cooper (not necessarily in that order). I've been suffering from baby on the brain quite alot recently - every birth I'm at and every postpartum visit I do, I want a baby. But my plan doesn't call for a baby until the spring of 2009 - so I'll be keeping the condoms and the thermometer close at hand until then.....

I'm also looking forward to summer - I've convinced Ian that I don't need to work at some crappy coffe-shop/waitress job just to make a couple of bucks if I agree to do something worthwhile with my time, so I'll be volunteering, likely here - and I plan to have lazy summer days before going back to work.....

For those of you on the west coast, I'm hoping to head out that way for a month this summer as well - likely in July or August - so be sure to keep a little free time open for me....it's been too long.
