It's been a good year....

I was reflecting on the past year (while writing the official "christmas letter" to be included in cards) and I have to say, I'm generally pleased with the way things have transpired....

Started out the new year by waking up married to a great guy, after having a super-fun wedding, and enjoyed 6 weeks of newlyweded bliss before trucking off to africa for 6 weeks. Had a great time there (I still have to post photos don't I?) - caught some babies, had a fabulous "official" honeymoon and only saw one snake.

From mid-april until now, the days have been a blur - it always amazes me how quickly time flies while on placement! I finally got my exam grades and did the best I've ever done on a midwifery exam to date - yay me! I even had one of my professors pull me aside and tell me that my performance in her OSCE station was phenomenal - and she doesn't give out compliments too easily! That made me feel good - like I do know what I'm doing and that when I'm working, without direct supervision, I'll do alright!

Since finishing my exams, the tree has been put up, the house decorated all festive like, and CLEANED, CLEANED, CLEANED! Ian was doing surface cleaning, but not that roll-up-your-sleeves-dusting-the-tops-of-the-door-frames-and-windows kind of clean. I've had the time to do that now and it's been very satisfying! Christmas cards are pretty much done - just waiting on a few addresses; knitting projects are nearing completion; and the next 4 days I'll be baking up a storm for presents for my brothers- and father-in-law.
Baking includes:
Shortbread
Rum Balls
Mini butter tarts
Mini Cranberry shortbread tarts
Turtle Bars
Apricot Almond bars
Kris Kringle Cookies
Sugar Cookies

Highlights for 2007 include graduating and becoming a Registered Midwife (RW,RM), finding a job, and finally getting paid for the work that I do. Not that I'll get to see any of the money as it will all be going to my $80,000 student loan, but hey - the loan will actually get smaller, instead of bigger!

Off to get a cartload of ingredients.....
