My first Tenipuri Fanfic!!!
I created an original character, Echizen Rio in this fic.
Echizen Rio, 10 years old, she's Ryoma's younger sister.
This story is on this pair of siblings when they were little kids.
It was a sunny Sunday. Ryoma was in the kitchen while his 3 years younger sister, Rio, was in the living room.
“Oi, Rio!” shouted Ryoma from the kitchen.
“What?” came the reply, “I am busy!”
Feeling a little annoyed, Ryoma decided to go into the living to check on what his sister was doing.
“And what were you busy with?” asked Ryoma in an impatient tone.
“Can’t you see? Mada mada dane, Oniichan too… Can't you tell that I am busy playing with Karupin!”
“…Y-o-u…”
“Hang on…” said Rio as she crawled up Ryoma with a look of suspect and Karupin in her arms, “Hmm… It’s rare to see you at home on a Sunday… I see… so you’re finally ripped off the Seigaku Regulars team…”
BANG! (Rio was hit by Ryoma.)
“Ouch! What do you think you’re doing suddenly?!” cried Rio with her head in her arms.
“And what do you think you’re saying suddenly? Look who’s the one who has more to work on here? We’re told to clean up the house today!”
“HUH? Are you kidding? Where are mom and dad?” asked Rio, fiddling the cat toy which she had bought for Karupin on her way back from school.
“Mom’s company sent her overseas for 1 month yesterday, Dad’s gone, without notice…” replied Ryoma lazily, looking at how Karupin was enjoying himself with his sister.
“Oh man…. What about Nana sis?” asked Rio, still playing with Karupin.
“She has a 2-day camp in her university school. Seriously, were you listening to our conversation yesterday during dinner?”
Rio cleared her throat and continued, “Heh~ I never expect that oniichan is actually so attentive~”
“Quit… quit… your nonsense and….”
Just then. the doorbell rang.
Seeing that Ryoma was about to explode into anger, Rio stood up quickly and went over to answer the door. She was surprised to see some Seigaku regulars at the door.
“Momo-niichan, Eiji-niichan, Ooishi-niichan, Inu-san”
“It’s Inui!” said Inui firmly, emphasizing the last ‘I’, while adjusting his glasses.
“…And Syu…syusuke-san,” Rio felt her cheeks burning, “Why…?”
“Hoi! Hoi! Mini-chibi!” exclaimed Kikumaru, “We have come to play nya! Are we welcomed?”
“Erm…” muttered Rio, as she looked into the mess she has created a minute ago at the living room, “Oniichan and I are in the middle of household chores, perhaps later?”
“Wow~ Rio-chan is helping out with household chores? That’s thoughtful of you,” said Fuji bending down so that he was face to face with Rio.
Rio felt her cheeks burning even more; she looked down, blushing, and muttered, “That’s…that’s nothing actually,”
“It is nothing indeed!” said Ryoma in a loud voice that was now standing behind of Rio, “because she did nothing!”
Rio gasped in surprise and yelled, “Oniichan!”
“Mada mada dane,” said Ryoma coolly, “This brat here is apparently not doing any cleaning but very much rather the opposite. Anyhow, come in.”
Rio felt anger raging within her but cooled down the minute Fuji entered the house.
“Oh wow... it’s really messy… let’s see let’s see, what have we here… games, comics, books and tidbits…what have the two of you been doing?” commented Momoshiro, “Are you guys seriously doing some cleaning up?”
“Looking at the present situation, the percentage of their teamwork is almost zero, I would say,” answered Inui, jotting some notes while Ooishi and Fuji looked into the pile of books lying on the table and Kikumaru in the kitchen with Ryoma.
“Hmm? What’s this?” asked Ooishi picking up an album.
“Ah!! That’s…” replied Rio.
“That is so cute! Is that Echizen when he was a kid?” said Momoshiro, peering his head over the album.
Rio felt her cheeks burning once again and her heart thumping fast.
“What is it?? What is it??” asked Kikumaru curiously as he scrambled out of the kitchen holding a tray with seven cups of orange juice.
“That photo is so cute!!! Isn’t that Rio-chi?” commented Momoshiro as he flipped the pages.
“That’s true,” agreed Fuji turning to Rio, “It’s very cute.”
Rio’s heart skipped a beat as her eyes met Fuji’s. She looked away at that instant. Her heart was thumping so hard that as though it would break her rib cage.
“Comparing at how she looked like right now, it’s absolutely unbelievable right?” said Ryoma as he walked out of the kitchen with seven plates of strawberry cake slices.
“ONIICHAN!”
“Hmm… according to my data this photo here looks like something which Echizen would never do though…”
Hearing that comment by Inui, Ryoma and Rio walked over to the table and looked at the photo. It was a photo of Ryoma and Rio sleeping together in a bed when they were five and 3 years old respectively.
“I have collected some good data,” said Inui satisfyingly.
“Ahh~ I remembered that incident!” said Rio, folding up her left T-shirt sleeve, “Look.”
There was a bitten mark on her left arm.
“Echizen, how could you bite your sister?! That’s not a right thing to do na, not a right thing to do yo,”
“Huh? Momo-senpai, I don’t understand what you’re talking about,” replied Ryoma as he took a sip from his cup of orange juice.
“This was a mark bitten by a wild fox, in a forest back in America when I was three actually,” said Rio laughing at Momoshiro’s comment…

“Wait up! Oniichan!” panted Rio as she finally made up way up the steep hill.
“Hurry!!”
The two young siblings had climbed their way up the hill, which they’ve heard rumors on the appearance of the Big Foot. Out of curiosity, they crossed every river and climbed over every tree in the forest until they were on the summit of this hill.
“The Big Foot is in the forest right? What are we doing up here?” complained Rio who was all tired and dirty.
“Mada mada dane,” began Ryoma.
“Don’t imitate Dad!” interrupted Rio, “You don’t look cool saying that at all.”
BANG! (Rio was hit by Ryoma.)
“ Shut up,” continued Ryoma with Rio hugging her head, “You don’t use your brains, do you? We’re here so that we could see Big Foot at a clearer view. Since he is so big, it would be easier for us to spot him too.”
Rio kept quiet and sobbed in silence while Ryoma was looking eagerly around for any hope of sight of a furry creature with his pair of binoculars, which he was given as his fourth birthday present.
The burning hot sun had finally sunk as the snacks that the siblings brought were eaten up.
“Let’s give up and go home. I am tired already, Oniichan,” yawned Rio.
Ryoma was disappointed but he was too, drained out of energy and hungry, he answered frustratingly, “ I don’t believe it…we’ve been had.”
Together, they dragged their bodies down hill carefully. When they had finally reached the bottom of the hill, they heard something sashaying amongst the bushes.
“Oniichan…” whispered Rio, clinging onto Ryoma.
They felt something approaching them in the bushes. They were certain that it was not their parents neither was it Big Foot because they could not see what that was.
“Let’s go the other way,” said Ryoma, holding Rio’s hand.
However, just as they were about to move, that creature in the bushes leapt out of them. It appeared to be a young fox but it did not seem any friendly to them.
Paralyzed with fear, Ryoma pulled his sister and ran as fast as he could with that fox chasing after them. Unfortunately, they were not quick enough for the fox; it sprang and bit Rio on her left arm.
Rio cried with pain and Ryoma was struck with horror.
“RIO!” he shouted as he tried to hit the fox away with the tree trunk he had found somewhere nearby.
Blood gushed out from Rio’s bitten arm. The fox looked determined to rip it off Rio’s body until a gunshot was heard in the air.
It had turned out that it was Nanjiro who had fired that gun. The fox escaped almost as immediately as the gunshot was heard.
Rio was covering her bitten arm with her right. Tears were streaming down her cheeks as blood was overflowing out of the wound.
Quickly and carefully, he had Rio in his hands and brought her to the hospital. Ryoma followed closely behind his father.
Rio was soon attended to at the hospital. Her wound was cleansed and properly bandaged.
“What have the two of been doing out there in the forest?” asked Nanjiro sternly at his children outside the doctor’s room.
None of them dared to look up or speak. After several minutes had passed,
“It was my fault!” said Ryoma and Rio together.
They told Nanjiro what had happened over in the forest.
Both of them received a severe scolding from their father for staying outdoors so late in the night…

“Ah~ Oniichan received more punishment than me though,” said Rio, finishing her last bit of strawberry, “because he did not take good care of me.”
“I knew it. The percentage of Echizen being beaten by Daddy was almost 99%,” continued Inui.
“Bingo! Oniichan was caned!” exclaimed Rio.
BANG! (Rio was hit by Ryoma.)
“…not….not…very severely though…” sobbed Rio, burying her head in her hands again.
“Heh~ Echizen is unexpectedly kind towards Rio-chan though,” said Fuji looking at Ryoma.
“So, in the end Ochibi felt guilty or something that was why he slept with you?” asked Kikumaru.
Ryoma stood up and went into the kitchen. Rio stole a glance at Ryoma. She thought she saw a blush on his cheeks.
“Uh uh~ nope~ I wanted to sleep together with Oniichan because it was raining and thundering outside,” replied Rio simply…

“Oniichan,” said Rio facing Ryoma on sideways, “I am glad that you pulled me.”
Ryoma opened his eyes.
“If not, you would have been the one bitten. It would be so much tougher for you to handle because you’re left handed,” continued Rio smiling, “goodnight.” And Rio closed her eyes.
“Silly girl…” whispered Ryoma, “Good night.”
