a ghost in the cuddy, a gull on the spar

Birds and boys (minstrels, natch) and really embarrassing song biffage, oh my! Oh, but that lacked a rhythm of any sort, didn't it? I'm sorry. Anyway, the concert went rather well, in my opinion. I, of course, have many a complaint (I always do), but the audience certainly seemed to enjoy the experience, which is the important part. Right?

Aaand, onto the carnage! Our last song, The Minstrel Boy, was going quite splendidly (world premiere and whatnot, very exciting) right up until we hit the bit going into the big finish, where we encountered a problem. A small problem, really quite tiny. At least, in the sense of how many people actually came in on their parts. Rather small indeed. I wished fervently to quietly shuffle off my mortal coil at that moment, or barring that, beat the tardy about the head for causing me such bright, tomato-y red, shame.

Oh, and as for Raggazzi? They were very good with the second half of their program (something Brazilian, a drinking song, fun stuff), but the first half was a little boring. My mom thought the they were very good with the loud music, but that they sort of fell apart at anything lower than mezzo piano. I sort of agree with that, but I'd love to hear your opinions. I'll upload some songs when I get the CD (and since they did a song we did a few years ago (only, you know, scored differently) I'll upload our version as well, for comparison's sake).

Then I went home and watched Doctor Who with my mom. She's really starting to like it, which brings my tally of Shows-That-I-Have-Successfully-Pimped-My-Mother-Into up to four! Only, this one doesn't have Hugh Laurie in it.

OMG. K-9! How adorable was that? And when Sarah Jane saw the new K-9 at the end? Aww.

Mickey was actually quite cute, with his tin-dog-ness. And now, he's going along. Should be interesting, at the very least.

I love Ten's glasses. So hot. Ten is rather more scary then Nine, no? For all his pleasant manic grins and bounding about, he's really rather frightening. Or maybe it's the grins and bounding that make the serious 'I'm going to fuck your shit way up' all the more shocking. Is shocking the right word? I don't think I'm shocked by him, just a little more wary.

And Sarah Jane, and Rose. Oh, oh. That was rather a cold bucket of water Rose got drenched with, poor dear. I did like the scene with them giggling in the computer lab and the Doctor all confused. Adorable!

Where did Mickey come from, though? I would have liked at least a line of exposition, there.

Also, at the end, when Mickey cuts off the power-one second the kids are sitting there with headphones on, then the next, they're leaping up without a trace of headphone about them. You'd think at least on kid would still be struggling along, all tangled up and almost ripping off his ears with a panicked yank gone awry.

Good episode though. Ripping fun, as they once said.

Omg, I just sneezed so hard, my retainer came out. Fun!
