I have finally made it to Japan! After 2 hectic weeks of preparing for the move while planning my first lesson and meeting up with friends and family, I am finally here. Until Sunday, I will be here in Gifu with my boyfriend before I head down to Okayama for training, then Hiroshima to my new home. I am happy to be here after a whirlwind effort to get here. First, my mom almost made me miss my first flight to LA after missing the drop off area, and then we went to the wrong terminal as a new one has been built in Vegas and my airline moved from terminal 1 to 3. Then I get to LA, my flight was delayed 3 hours, which put me in a bind once I got to Narita since I needed to go from there to Gifu.Immigration took forever (I also got my residence card), then exchanging money took awhile. I was able to catch nearly all my trains to Gifu except the one directly to his city in Gifu so I had to take a taxi from Gifu station. I finally reached my boyfriend`s place around 1 AM. Im still tired from lugging my luggage through the stations. Luckily for me, and thanks to looking pitiful while carrying two fairly large suitcases, a purse, and duffle bag, people stopped to help me carry my things at nearly every station, foriegn and Japanese. Knowing Japanese definitely helped. I`ve learned my lesson though, time to use the takuhaibin service to send my things to Okayama and then Hiroshima. I`ll pay in order to save myself the stress, pain and slight embarrassment from carrying my stuff through the stations.
Side note: Japan sure doesn`t like elevators in a lot of its stations =[
