Lets Sail Away;
[ find our own country ]
It's not very often that he can stay quiet and just think like this. Alone in his own corner of the tent, content to daydream of times when life wasn't so hard, wasn't so desperate. When he wasn't out trying to save the world, all the worlds really -- only in the company of those he called friends, those two who always stayed by his side, urging him on in an unfailing confidence and friendship.
In those moments when, sweet and swept up on the shores of sandy beaches, he could fling clear water up to his companions, the ocean and earth junctures to his sky, mind carefree and innocent of all other troubles. Where they could build rafts to sail off into what seemed to be an infinite expanse of sea, find new countries, new lands and new lives to live together, forever. He deflates at remembering the current situation, but though these are old memories, so faint they now almost hurt to remember, he clings to them as if they were the very makeup of his soul.
He and Riku were always the first to go out, he remembers, more fondly now. Even before she'd come along, with her bright red hair sparking like fire in the afternoon and horizon sun, they'd been together. Shuffling into hidden caves under waterfalls, etching caveman pictures in the rocks, -- 'best friends for life, they'd say! Best friends forever!' Only laughter and joy lived in them those days. He remembers it all.
Just don't let go, he would whisper, sitting on the edge of a smoothly crafted raft hand and hand with his best friend. Just keep a hold on me, and don't let go.
And, no matter what happens, Sora thinks -- he won't.
