A rare sighting!
Yes, its me.. on Livejournal! have not updated for a while.
This weekend sees my parachute jump for the RSPCA finally upon us, I have reached my target, thanks to all those who have lent their support! To make it more of an adventure I'm doing the minimalist camping thing in unknown country on the Saturday night as coming back from Kent and then getting back up there at another ungodly early hour just does not seem worth it. I have not yet got a date for starting as a PCSO and received a letter saying 'because of the current economic downturn we will not be taking on any new placements in 2009...' so January will be the earliest now... although according to a couple of PCSOs I was talking to today more staff are very much needed there just wary of budgeting for them.
The weekend before last I went up to Dumfries in Scotland for the 'Border gathering' and highland games, taking part and reaching the semi final of the backsword tournament and generally having a great weekend including camping, drinking, seeing Robbie Burns house and axe throwing as well as the tournamnet:

..and on a fighting theme tried Saxon spear fighting the next Friday with some re-enactment guys, both one-on-one and as part of a shield wall. I was tempted to sign up but I get so few weekends free from work or other engagements that I didn't think I'd really be able to attend many events or training exercises.
