today was the first time that i went all the way downtown BY MYSELF to run errands and buy books.
at first, i was hellbent on going downtown wearing my usual surly glare since i'm not too fond of going downtown by myself. however, to my delight, the first two homeless people i passed [about 2 steps from the metro station, mind you] made me falter.
part of the reason why i don't like going downtown by myself is because the homeless people there give my little country bumpkin/suburban heart a run for the money. and yet these two made my day. the first one said "hey! has anyone told you you're beautiful today?" that made me smile already, but i shook my head. the second one said "you're beautiful!" and that really made me happy =)
but then it kinda got me to thinking. no one's told me i'm beautiful in a long time.. it's ironic how a little compliment from two complete strangers could make me feel all nice and bubbly inside.
oh santa cruz, you keep surprising me!
it's been a while tho, hasn't it, lj? summer has passed and gone...and i'm back in santa cruz again. (obviously.) the last half or so of summer was much more eventful to say the least. a nice weeklong visit in new york was refreshing. i spent a few days with eunice and minyung, and then a day or two with my ass-kickin' cousins. i'm totally gonna travel more to see them. a few days spent in sweltering las vegas with my lovely adrienne followed by multiple visits to san diego were memorable as well. i miss you, adie. "i am roy no more! i am montecore!"
first half of summer was forever, and the second half went by way too fast. once adrienne came back from DC everything flew by.
anyway, just a quick update because my trip downtown was quite the adventure. more to come soon.
missed me?

don't deny it
