Range Report

Went to the rang today for the first time in a while (last time I went, I fired my AR)... Needless to say it'll be a week or two before I go back on account that it tends to be rather expensive.  $42 down the drain.  Oh well.  By the way I realised as I uploaded my pictures that my camera phone took the pictures in the worst possible resolution, so the pictures look moar like ass than usual.  Sorry guys.

First rented firearm (didn't bring the AR this time) was the Beretta 90-Two.  ( http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/8185/beretta90twoqk4.jpg )  I'd read lukewarm reviews and held it side-by-side with a 92, and didn't see much improvement over the older model.  Well, after firing it I'm confirmed that Beretta weapons to me are just middle of the road, B-student firearms.  Although one thing that may have impacted my decision was that the 90-Two I fired today was chambered in .40, my least favourite round, so I may have been a smidgeon more impressed if it were in 9mm.  Here thar be pix.

After all 50 rounds in the 90-Two I moved on to a Walter P22 with the crappy little Walter toy laser on it.  Granted the laser was nice to show how badly (badly!) my hands shook, but otherwise it wasn't anything exceptional.  In fact, the seven Failure to Ejects and three Failure to Fires in a row *sucked*.  Plus my hands are much too large for it (if you know how large the 90-Two is, you can compare my hand size to it above), so my pinky kept fumbling around on the magazine.  PLUS if you slap the magazine in too hard, the slide catch will disengage and the gun will jam.  So I made a habit of closing the slide after each mag.  In the end the thing felt moar like a toy than a firearm.

Lastly was something I've never handled before, a Beretta CX-4 Storm!  ( http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/3163/berettacx4fullel9.jpg )  It's a rifle-length carbine that fires handgun ammo-yew-nitions.  It had a laser stupidly mounted on the top so it blocked the sights, so I was forced to just cheekweld as best I could and look over the laser.  It was very fun to fire, very stable and controllable.. And the first few shots were weird as hell: I'm used to a long-stroke recoil on a rifle like my AR and ex-AKs have, but this has such short bolt travel, it was very alien at first.  But I warmed up to it and it was a blast.  I took an FPS-shot of it, too:

Fucking camera.  Sorry again for the crappyness.  Next time I'll make sure to set the resolution higher.  :[

And that's that.  It was worth the money except the P22, so I'll remember not to go near that piece a' shite again.

..

Holy shit, was that a real livejournal update?!  =0
