kirtle!

Lots of things happening at once, sort of.

First major round of production stuff completed. I anticipate a couple more of about the same size. Excitement!

Today was a low-energy sort of morning. I processed orders, and then spent much of the afternoon running errands. When I got back, a giant nap-monster had attacked the household, and I quickly fell victim to it as well. Woke up around 5pm, and was sluggish until about 6, but then I got busy!

Got a couple personal projects cut out and underway. I've been anxious about having time to tweak the fit of the late 16thC stuff that I'd like to start wearing. Still hoping to get some done, sure...
... but when in doubt, go back to what you know.

Those of you who know me have likely seen me in 15thC kirtles more times than you can count. I'm really happy with the fit of my most recent one (which I only just finally finished at Lilies, despite it being in progress for a year). I feel like I've gotten that solidly figured out at this point. So tonight, when I realized that I had enough extra in a cut of fabric, I decided to crank one out.

Cutting is frequently my least favorite part of the sewing process (though having the table raised helps a lot!), but since I was already at it... why not? And the machine portion of the sewing took under an hour (haven't attached the sleeves yet, but that's cake), including attaching the lining to the bodice portion.

I am going to tack down the lining and start eyelets as part of tonight's quiet-time winding-down stitching.

Hopefully sleeves can happen tomorrow, but it's not going to be the highest priority. Still, nice to know I can turn one of these out really rapidly when called to do so. And hooray for having better clothing on at Pennsic!
