So, earlier today I was driving to A.C. Moore with Fliper. We were going down Penny Rd. about to hit Holly Springs and I see this gigantic dog crossing the street. At first I was like, "WTF? Does this dog live around here?" I had to stop because the poor thing was in front of my car, but I started getting really worried that someone might hit him. I mean, if it was Cupcake I'd want someone to bring her home. So, I got out of my car and started calling the dog over, and it worked because I got him to get in my car. He seemed friendly. He was HUGE though--he barely fit in my backseat!
So, I drove him back to my house where I could actually take a look at his dog tags and his fucking tags say:

WILL FIND HIS WAY HOME
(ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER)
So, these fuckers think it's a good idea to let their dog roam around freely across busy streets filled with reckless drivers. Way to go, assfaces. So, I went ahead and mapquested their address to see how far away they were from me, and called their house (from which I got no answer) to let them know I had the dog. I drove up to their place with my Dad, called them again once I got there and left a message. I checked for a fence, a doggy door, or anything signifying that his dog might live there. I found a Bear statue and a mat that seemed like it was meant for the dog, so my Dad and I decided to leave him there since his tags said, "WILL FIND HIS WAY HOME." Smokey seemed to know where he was... but still. He kept on following me and my Dad as if he was saying, "Okay, guys, where are we going now? *PantPant*." I felt kind of bad for just leaving him there. I feel even worse since I didn't really say goodbye to him either. I just kind of got in the car and left. But, I gave him a lot of treats and I petted him a lot before I left. He seemed fine where he was, and I don't think he'd go out again. He was pretty scared when I first put him in my car, so I don't think he'll go out for fear of being grabbed again. He'd walked pretty far too, their house wasn't that close to where I found him. And he's an old dog too.
I just called their house again to make sure that Smokey was at home and safe--and his owner answered, he said Smokey is doing just fine. He likes to go over to the farm across the street, apparently he used to live there.
:( Smokey... maybe well meet again someday.
