Another success!
Welcome Reception - This went well. I said thank you to everyone and indicated I was stepping down at the end of the con, and Joe announced he was taking over next year.
Slot 1 - I was in HQ this slot because we were short volunteers. But also just in case something came up last minute. Nothing was happening so at ten o'clock I closed up HQ, went for a short walk and poked my head into a few games, then hit the pool and hot tub.
Slot 2 - I was disappointed that the game I had signed up for here canceled. But, I was able to get into a pick up game, Memory Lane, run by John Czarnota. It was a concept I've seen before, but didn't realize it until the very end. I won't give details in case he decides to run it again. But I will tell you, the 200 point shape-shifter I created was very amusing!
Slot 3 - In the Shadows of Greatness, run by Kris and Tara Kunkel. This was a fun game, we got to play shadows of our favorite Elders. This is also where several of my favorite quotes appeared, including; "Clickety, clickety, skip. Clickety, clickety, skip" Quite possibly the best Flora, or Fleur as her shadow was named, was played by
egwenna.
Slot 4 - I took Slot 4 off so that I could visit with my family. It's become a tradition for them to come up either Friday night or Saturday morning and enjoy the pool with me. It was not as good as it could have been because of a group of about eight 9 to 12 year old boys had invaded the hotel for a birthday party. They had one adult "supervising" the lot. She mostly talked on her phone, or was otherwise distracted as the group broke nearly all the rules in the pool, as well as knocking a ceiling panel off into the pool. *sigh*
Slot 5 - When the Queen Says Go and Die; The Lady in Question, run by Kit Kindred. This was a great game! It was my first year as a musketeer and I have to say, Jean-Luc Evrard will be back next year! He has to, some fool has gone and accused his best friend, Charles, of being a witch! How absurd!
Slot 6 - In the Dark; Maneuvers, by George Gitari. The 12th year for this ongoing campaign and I haven't missed one yet! In fact, this game is one of the main reasons I keep coming back. My character, Fitzgin is a Trump Artist, whose parentage is unknown. There's no way I could post everything to catch you up to speed, so lets just say Fitzgin is becoming intimately acquainted with shadow storms, but he's glad his studio is no longer a solid mass of Trump energy!
Slot 7 - Tales from the Banzai Archive: Buck Needs You!, run by John Lees & David McCreless. Excellent as always! These two guys know how to play off each other and make the game loads of fun! We managed to save Buck, but in the process, a genetically enhanced mountain gorilla escaped into the French country side. *oh well, there has to a plot for next year I guess*
Wrap Party - Said thank you to everyone again. I just can't say it enough. Announced the winner of the Crowd/Popular Choice Graphic Contest, that was 'Journey Into the Serpent's Eye,' by John Lees. Congratulations John! I failed to mention the winner of the juried Graphic Design Contest, that was 'Pattern Sword', by Matt Andrews, a.k.a
curgoth Slot 8 - I had also left this slot open. I had planned to dismantle HQ during this slot. And that's exactly what happened. I had everything torn down, taken apart, packed away and loaded into vehicles by 9 P.M. Then I made my rounds to the games, went to the pool, then back to my room to read.
