Robin Hood (No Spoilers)

Saw Robin Hood this afternoon with Kim. It seems the recent trend in motion pictures is to re-invent, so to speak, a fairly successful franchise, whether it was on TV, the big screen or both. For example; Star Trek, Nightmare on Elm St., the upcoming A Team, and of course Robin Hood. You get the idea.

I was vaguely aware of this fact going into the film. (I had heard it was the case several months ago but had forgotten.) All in all, it is a good movie. I’m not sure if would consider it Oscar worthy. Though the score was very well done and a nomination in that category wouldn’t surprise me.

Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, (1981 Warner Bros.), was good enough. The cast worked well together it seemed, though I do like the casting for this iteration better. They are more suitable to the accents and therefore lend to the believability of the film.

Of Course, when re-inventing a franchise, one must plan ahead. And it seems Universal Pictures and Ridley Scott have done so. That’s all I will say since I promised no spoilers.
