Well, it's been a while. A few things have happened;-
1 Sometime between 1:30 and 8:30am friday a couple of weeks ago (the 18th? or was it the 11th?) my car was stolen.
By 'my' i of course mean 'my sister Stella's, since i still haven't paid the stamp duty to have that changed.
However, as she gave it to me upon upgrading to something newer, i consider it mine.

2 Car found, and then stolen again, and then again found. I hear about this something like so:
Stella: "Your car's been found again."
Me: "Again...?"....

3 Cost to pick up from towing company monday morning after - $88
Cost for parts damaged on car from the Excellent 'Wakefield Auto Wreckers'
$45 - for an ignition lock assembly.
$25 - for the drivers side quarter glass out of the passenger door.
Total cost bummed from my mum ;_;
$158

4 And to top it off, the same day i find my car missing, my boss (A) tells me i can't take the annual leave i've already applied for.
Because, he says (or to this effect), "Other staff person (B) has already gone on leave, and you haven't given me enough
warning to sort out the roster... What with the annual stocktake coming up as well. Also the Area manager (C) can't
find the leave form you submitted a couple of weeks ago, and wants to see a letter from your doctor if you're really all that sick anyway".

The punchline? I've been up for annual leave since before A, B or C were even employed.

5 I get a letter from my doctor, pretty much to the effect of "YES, he is sick, suffering from major depression and asthma,
give him time off ASAP. PS, he's also recovering from a respiratory virus infection, and is unfit for normal work for the next couple of days anyway"

6 Oh yes, the Flu.

I go to work, because of stocktake, area manager is in. I've seen him in person maybe 5 times ever. One of those times was the last annual stocktake.
I pass him my letter, and wait for him to get off the phone. He opens the letter and glances at it while talking.
He finishes his phone call, and gives me a firm handshake.
We talk. He suggests 4 weeks off. I remind him i'm due 11. He suggests i take four weeks, then call him if i want more.
I'm not particularly satisfied with this compromise, but agree anyway.
Then he suggests that i resign, which he says will give me a lump sum payout, and then i can come back when i feel like it as part time or casual?
.... I consider it.
No Pressure, he says.
I take him up on it, and resign.

I've been mostly sleeping in since, but that's nothing new. I've been run down enough to need every moment i could manage to grab in extra sleep.
The annoying part has been how fscked up my sleep pattern is. Not that 'pattern' is a valid description of it at present.
I can make myself get up, and have been for work and uni for at least the last couple of years, but it soon seems to rubber band back to irregularity.
Case in point - took me three hours to get the sleep last. My biological clock seemed to think it was the middle of the day.

blah. I need to get myself into shape.

7 Also had an eye exam last week. Turns out i need glasses too. Will have to wait.

The silver lining?
The payout should cover my accumulated credit card debt, and then some.
My parents will probably support me, at least for a few weeks.
I'm not sure exactly how to spend my time off (this is nice change).
And a recent blood test has pointed out a possible anomaly with a hormone that regulates thyroid activity, and therefore metabolic rate.
I have another blood test to take, but I've been advised to wait until a couple of weeks after i've recovered completely from the flu.
It'd be real nice to have a definitive answer about what's been beating me up in the health department for so long.

Anyway, Now the real reason for this post - Is anyone else keen for a piss up?
