Pointless rambling about RL and the endless hunt for employment. Anyone else out there suffering too?
Hm, got a sad call today that the position I'd just interviewed for on Friday was given to another applicant. While this is the seventh or so interview I've been on since graduating last May, I wasn't too surprised. However, I was disappointed because it was the first job I actually wanted to get. And the people were great! How often can one come out of an interview and say, "Dang those guys are terrific and I fit in here!"? Yah, sucky, but okay because I can take rejection the rest of the world.
Exactly 56 minutes later I got another call regarding a position I interviewed for way back in the first weeks of December. Asked if I was still interested and would like the job. Pssht, would I ever! Hah, actually I was really hoping they wouldn't call me so I didn't have to make that particular decision: take a shitty job so I don't have to sit on my ass? Ahh, stay positive, right? I'm not sure how I feel about the other people or the job itself, but we'll see...
Job I wanted: professional/scientific for the university. Great benefits, lots of vacation, perfect work environment, fantastic experience with federal and state regulations governing research on animal/human subjects.
Job Offered: merit/blue collar lab tech. Good benefits, still more vacation than most, scary work environment (oh how chem labs freak me out. So many different ways to maim and disfigure, not to mention die, lol). Actually it's not that bad of a position, and it would have been perfect while I was still in school, it's just now that I worked so hard (and paid so damn much) for my degree, I just really wanted something professional (aka requiring a college degree).
Like I said, I'll have to wait and see. Could be the best thing to happen to me *devil's advicate says: or it'll be the worst year of your life*. Anyway, guess I have to pack up all my shiz now and move back to college! Okay, to the college.
End of a pointless post. Sorry I just had to vent :).
