A/N: I seem to be restricted to 300 word fics lately. Don't know why. Just gonna roll with it for a while. Thanks to airbefore for extra eyes and for being awesome, in general.

He hears her before he sees her. She taps his arm. "Yeah, I'm awake," he says, pops one eye open.

She sits on the edge of the bed, mostly dressed, one hand on his hip the other thumbing through email on her phone. Her skin pink from a shower. "It's okay, you can sleep in."

She drops the phone on her pillow, leans down to kiss him, tries to pull the bottom few buttons of her shirt through their holes.

Castle yanks her down by the neck so she's in his lap.

"You're gonna wrinkle my shirt!" she gets out but her heart's not in it. A laugh this early in the morning is why he does this with her.

He says, "No, I'm up. I go where you go."

She leans on him with hands on his chest, hair curtaining her face. They're still for a long moment. He sweeps her hair back and pins it against her neck, kisses the ropey tendon of her throat. Makes her shiver.

"I'm running late. The guys are waiting for me."

"You smell good." A kiss against her breast where the shirt isn't fastened. "Really good, Beckett. You need to start waking me up earlier…" He looks up. The sun's rising outside, she's warm in his lap, and he's having trouble swallowing.

And then she smiles. "I have to go."

He knows what he must look like now. Face lax, eyes hooded. He's frozen in place. Overwhelmed. He wants to tell her things. Things about how she looks to him, how he feels about her.

How he can't remember a time when his breath was this hard to catch.

"Me too, Castle," she says so he doesn't have to. She gives him a smile and puts a palm flat on his sternum. A kiss on his chin. "I'll see you later."
