You know now that this thing between the two of you would have been disastrous for the team-for your careers-had it come to term way back then. While yes, fundamentally you are the same people, there is no denying the differences on this side of the line.
Like just this afternoon, she walked into your bathroom while your pants were still unbuckled and you had your hands under hot water. She smiled like she'd swallowed your canary and told you that you were out of peanut butter.
Well is that so?
You think you liked her smirking at you with bare feet warming the bathroom tiles.
You think maybe you liked it a lot.
That picture, the two of you crammed into a tiny room sharing one light bulb and similar expressions, would have never existed in your universe all those years ago.
Then she licked her first two fingers, presumably for the final traces of peanut butter that were left in your house, and left you standing with a limp towel in your dripping hands.
Yeah, you think, there is definitely something good to be said about progress.
