Weekend Update at last

Oct 19, 2005 00:10

Two weeks ago I started writing about a busy weekend, and got about halfway through it before putting it down. When I thought about continuing, I realized that my writeup was way too long and boring. Meanwhile, I had another (much quieter) weekend, and then a weekend together with my wife. But I still felt like I had unfinished business.

So, trashing the long writeup I attempted before, here's a quick rundown of the past three weekends....

Busy

Got to Columbus later than I'd hoped, quickly dropped off program guides for the Ohio LinuxFest, went to see Serenity with braider, then when I should have gone to bed I went to Little Brother's to see Watershed play. Slept.

Got up, went to LinuxFest, fought with the wireless network there, ran into Mowgli (a former co-worker at OSU). Napped, then along with Mowgli met up with chronarchy, singingwren, Tina, and a friend of Tina's at the Arena Grand for Serenity again. This time I closed my eyes for the final "I am a leaf on the wind" and listened to the audience reaction. Finally met singingwren, yay. Went with this gang to Blue Danube for fun banter and comical hummus. Went back to hotel and fell asleep.

Got up, decided to check out High St CD stores or at least SBX, but discovered I was too early. Went to Border's instead, intending just to pick up Anansi Boys. Also found some music CDs (Vas, Sheila Chandra, Deep Forest, and Greenhorn), Hitchhiker's Guide on DVD (movie) and CD (third radio series), and volume 9 of Sandman. Noticed that they have lots of copies of a favorite Watershed CD, Star Vehicle, but I already have both the '97 and '98 versions so I didn't buy it. (But chronarchy should.) Decided to stop at Micro Center. Ended up buying a display model photo printer, a hard disk, and some other odds and ends. Mom called while I was there, so I headed to her place afterward and chatted for an hour or so. Finally headed home.

Quiet

This time it was nontacitare going to Columbus while I stayed in Canton with a list of things to get done. Quickly found myself feeling surprisingly lonely and unmotivated. Watched Blackadder videos. Saturday evening went to see Sky High (again) with some friends and their kids, and enjoyed both the movie and the company. Was very happy to see nontacitare return Sunday evening.

Together

nontacitare and I began our first weekend together this October by building a fire in the fireplace. Next night we joined some of the local pagans for an outdoor fire under the full moon, where I got a few great pictures that I hope to post soon. Sunday we got more quality time together.

Ah, now I feel better.... all is right in this part of the world again. :-)
