It was 50 here today. So after a run & house/family maintenance, Child and I decide to take an Adventure Walk around some local ponds and through a patch of woods. It was, without a doubt, one of the best things Child and I have done together in a long time.
When I mapped it, it came out to 1.46 miles over about an hour. I took out the Sitting And Throwing Rocks In The Water time, Looking At Things From The Top Of The Hill time & Child Climbs Around On A Fallen Tree While Mommy Watches time. I think the distance was actually a bit farther because there were a certain number of excursions up hills, into brush and "Hey, what's over here!" No animals or birds to watch sadly, but I also didn't have to worry about ticks.
Should you have access to a child, preferable less than 10 years old, a patch of woods with some trails and some unfettered free time - this is a terrific way to spend it.
