We've Joined the 20th Century!

When I was pregnant with Child, my beloved husband promised me a dishwasher.  He even wrapped up a sponge as an representation.  I wanted one, but there is no "slot" for the dishwasher in the kitchen, and I could not see an easy way to install one.  So I graciously accepted this promise, but accepted that it would be a difficult & unlikely project.  Over the past 5 years, I still have not gotten my dishwasher.  Until this week.

Here is the before:  Please note I emptied all the junk out.  If you are looking for a great way to purge yourself of junk that you dont really need, installing a dishwasher is a great way to establish your priorities.

Here, Child supervises from an appropriate location.  Notice the jammies.  This was at noon.

Note to Cheese Cousin Husband:  DH is STILL using that bit set.

I have now persuaded Child into clothing.  He & Bunny are supervising the installation of the wiring.  "Now, you need to be sure there is no clog in the line."

New cabinets.  These are the cheap, stock ones from Lowes.  The back is pressboard, but the front is some nice oak.

We keep our medicines in this top drawer by the sink.  (Keeping your medicines in the bathroom is bad for them.)  I highly recommend cleaning out your medicine collection.  Child checked the expiration date on every single item.  We tossed a ton of old meds.  Between the cleaning products and the meds, the Earth hates me now.

At this point, we pause for a week long intermission.  The dishwasher we had decided on was not available at Lowes.  We inquired about the floor model, but in a surprising twist, the dude said that he doesnt recommend it because they've had so many people banging on them, inevitably they leak.  So we put in the order and wait.  They ended up having to go get it from another store when it didn't come in from the warehouse.

But it arrived.  My world is not complete, but its nice to know my husband will fulfill his promises - eventually.

And I bought the Earth Friendly No Phosphate detergent.
