One of the important photovoltaic technologies uses tellurium. This element is rare in the Earth's crust, but can be found in some seafloor deposits. It would be better to mine it from type CI chondritic asteroids, if that could be done cheaply enough.

Given what the last major undersea mining push turned out to be, I have to wonder if there's any new Russian subs that need to be salvaged.
