Last night was the most amazing experience of my life. THE White Stripes in concert. It was out of control.
Jack White's guitar can be likened to a 5th appendage. It was indescribable. But I'll try and describe it to you anyway.
The set was all red and white with crazy artwork, resembling a jungle scene.
Jack White looked bigger in person, dressed in all red with a money hat. Meg looked straight out of Pirates of the Carribean with an old school drapped ensemble. But the stage fit them well.
There was Meg's drumset (with peppermint swirls of course), the marimba, three of Jack's guitars, a sweet piano, and some other crazy stuff on stage.
As soon as they walked on the energy was through the roof. The first song was of course Blue Orchid, but it was nowhere near the top songs of the night. They played an awesome mix of all their albums. I really enjoyed the fact that they played older shit from De Stijl while mantaining newer stuff as well. They played some Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton songs.
There was a surprisingly large crowd on hand. Most of the Lawn at Merriweather was filled and the whole pavillion was packed. I had a pretty good seat to the right of stage. There was a blend of all kinds of people, a lot more older people than I'd expect, but they were rocking out just as hard.
It was without a doubt the best concert I've ever been to. It met and exceeded all my expectations. I can't wait to see them again. Well done.
