Lately, everyone and a few more seem to be having opinions on how to fix soccer refereeing. This is not comething new, but happens during every world cup. FIFA, and soccer apologists are not defending the incorrect decisions of the referees. But if you are one of these supposed experts who want an overhaul of rules and live replay and referrals, you need to also keep in mind that soccer is the way it is for a reason.
Soccer is designed to be played, more than to be watched. 90 minutes in soccer means 90 minutes. Not like how minutes are defined in american football (where a 60 minute game takes over 3 hours) or basketball (where a counter runs each time a team starts attacking). When you suggest rule changes, try to keep this in mind, and remember that your proposed rule change needs to also preserve the spontaneity of the game.
