Well… I’m alone again. Knew it wouldn’t last forever. She’s too nice for me. Work is still the same. My knee is getting better from last I posted. It clicks three times for every step going up stairs so that’s fun, for once I’m musical. I still fear the day that it may luxate again and cause more damage. Long day turns into a short night before I do it all over again. I wish I could just be in a little room and listen to music and run blood all day. I don’t know that all the puppies and kitties are worth seeing the sick and dying. When people would rather them “pass at home because that’s more peaceful”. No. They’re in multi-organ failure and you’re just going to let them poison themselves because they can’t clear the toxins made from their bodies. Is it good or bad when you can pick up a patient and know they feel like shit? So cold I’m surprised the thermometer read 93 as a body temp. Ethanol is the best waste product ever of any metabolic pathway… all in the name of adenosine triphosphate, the all mighty dollar of the body. It sucks when you can’t fix them. You see the signs, but you know. So hard to explain it sometimes. ‘Well, Fluffy’s CBC show’s a low leukocyte count with band neutrophils present AND we’re anemic with a high reticulocyte count” *deer in head light look* “He did the good fight, but he lost” OH(and not an alcohol group), can’t forget the monocytes… they’re in the thousands. I actually sit and think of how to explain this dead language to people… medical terms are so, messy. They are exacting in their descriptive detail, but not everyone knows… you know? Anisocoria, somnolence, prandial, borborygmi, tussis… antitussive. It’s good I won’t name something medical. I’d make it just as long and vexing as a real term, but I’d have fun with it too. “Fluffy’s CBC says that the neutrophils, that’s like the infantry… they’re first in at the site of an infection, are really low. The monocytes are your howitzers and air support… they’re really high at just a few thousand(per dL(but we don’t us units)). Now the fact that there are band neutrophils means that the infantry is so low that their just pulling troops from the draft list without even basic training because that’s how bad the enemy… err infection is. The problem is that there just aren’t enough white cells to combat it. Even if we use antibiotic, I mean, drop a nuke… they can’t clean up the survivors. Oh, them reticulocytes? It’s like having under inflated inner tubes going in your lazy river… even though reticulocytes are bigger than normal red blood cells… and they have that pesky nucleus taking up all that oxygen carrying space.”
MMMM side tangent… though a tangent is only one single point on a circle… so it’s only on one side of infinity. Hmmm… I guess it’s a side perpendicular. Certainly not parallel since it was totally not in the same direction.
I proclaim sleep.
