Halfway through the new novel, I have finally figured out what I've subconsciously been doing with it all along, so that's a relief. Also I finished the initial copyedits of my book of travel writing coming out next year (working title: No Fixed Address) though I still need to write some sort of conclusion. Conclusions are hard.
Maybe more novel-gazing later. In the interim, have some pictures.
In lieu of Burning Man we did the exact environmental opposite and went scuba diving in California's Channel Islands. No night dives due to bad weather, alas, but still a great trip. And a very pretty one:

Also we acquired a new car. There was a lot of hassle, hence my severe expression here, but we triumphed in the end.
Also TechCrunch Disrupt was more Dadaist than usual this year.
Also sometimes I go to the beach.
And get drinks from robot bartenders. Because here in the Bay Area we live in the Belle Epoque of the Red Death, or something. Well, it's fun while it lasts, right? The man next to the giant booze-dispensing tiki head has some impressive tech-related job, iirc, the details of which currently escape me.
