S. and I took advantage of America's strange ritual of turkey slaughter and strip-mall invasions to make our way down the coast to Morro Bay, known for Morro Rock, which apparently, on the other side, looks like a Moor:




...and which is also located a mere half-hour drive from Hearst Castle, the enormous compound which William Randolph Hearst -- newspaper tycoon, scourge of marijuana, and inspiration for Citizen Kane -- built as a base/lair/summer-home early last century:










He was clearly a man fond of swimming. This is the indoor pool:
