And lastly, I've reached the point where I'm finding myself surrounded not only by light-hearted slights at the French, but thorough ethnocentrism. I'm not okay with it. France is not that bad. Nice place, a lot of decent people, and several key cultural differences which have arisen from a history very differently from the U.S. ... so they approach things like war differently. In your book, that may be cowardice, but it's not in theirs. And while I can allow up to a point that this difference is one of the many ways we form distinctions between cultural identities, there's no need for it to be carried on in such a anti-social manner.
