I see the end of the tunnel, and it's closer than I thought
The last time I was back in Muncie I had a conversation with Bret while we were at the mall hunting down a Radio Shack (there isn't one in the mall so we felt stupid). In this conversation he mentioned that he would probably be taking the month of August off from his job as a life guard for Balls tate. At the time I thought, "hey, that's not a bad idea." After yesterday's long and harrowing day at work I have made the decision to also take the month of August off from work. August 1st will be my last day and I will use all of my vacation time to to finish out that week and end that pay period. What this means is that after this week is over I only have two more weeks of work. How happy am I? I'm fucking ecstatic!!! I've already earned the $4,000 that I usually earn every summer, so I feel no need to press on in a job that I hate. This might even give me the time to go on a trip before school starts (anyone want to drive up to Canada?). Some of this time in August will be spent looking for a job in Muncie. I figure if I can find a nice little weekend gig and make enough each month to pay rent I should be fine. It might also be the first time that I don't end the school year broke as a filthy hobo.
