These Wasted Words

For the last week I have been listening pretty much non-stop to an album called "The Vanity Project"(TVP). It is Steven Page's, one of the singers for BNL, side project. He wrote most of the material with one of his good friends Steven Duffy, who has also helped out with some BNL material i.e. Call and Answer, and together they have crafted a great album. It was interesting at first to hear what Steve would do when left up to his own devices, and from what I've heard it definetly seems as though Ed Robertson, his co BNL frontman and usual songwriting partner, keeps alot of his cynicism in check. While most of BNL's songs are very tongue in cheek, TVP makes it very obvious what is being said. There is a truly unique sound to the album as well with Page adding his own twists to styles such as that of Dylan, The Beach Boys, and The Beatles at certain points. What I laud most in the album, and in most work that Page has had a hand in, is the intelligence and cleverness that is used in his crafting of lyrics. The best way to sum up TVP is that it is Page uncensored. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I don't really know, that's for the individual to decide.

Now that I'm done writing my music critique, yes I am extremely bored at work, I think I'll mention what else is going on right now. Next week we are moving into a new office about 500 yds away, on the other side of W. 465, which should be exciting. Even better is that because of my work schedule and the upcoming holiday I get a 3 day weekend, followed by a 3 day work week, followed by another 3 day weekend. Needless to say I'll be kicking back for a while once Friday is over. It sounds like saturday the Pharm will be hosting a little gathering so if anyone is in Muncie and wants to stop by feel free. Other than that, there's not too much to report. Summer breaks are boring in college and I honestly can't wait to get back to school. As much as I and everyone else may complain about the busyness that is the Ball State Theater Department, it is much better than the monotony that is this summer break. To pass the hours at work I've started reading Shakespeare, I'm hoping that by the end of the summer I'll have at least muddled my way through the complete works, or at least a good majority of them. Anyway... work sucks, I rule, and school needs to start up again. Ciao!
