My Friend Tom
It's with overwhelming sadness to have to say my friend Tom passed away this week. Even typing those words is rather surreal. He was my friend who was always up for something avant-garde - it was HE who took me to that bizarre syrup film event recently at the RedCat theater... We shared movies- recently discussing endlessly the different layers of Synecdoche, NY. as well as the Colors trilogy. He wanted to borrow Decalogue. And he had just asked me before I left for Sundance if I was up for seeing The Ring Cycle. I told him I didn't think I could do it. But we did have our new calendars for the RedCat and we were going to chose what next bizarro thing we were going to see there. I loved that he was up for it, often more than I was...
