My sister was out of town (New Orleans) for the holiday weekend, so Emily and I volunteered to babysit for the weekend. Since we're hoping to have kids eventually ourselves, this was an interesting "trial run" to see how well we did together taking care of kids.
Luckily, despite a rather hair-raising head-bonking incident (5 year old boy + 7 year old sister + sharing a bedroom == bleeding head wound + crying 5 y.o. + rather more excitement than babysitters were looking for) the weekend went pretty well. The injury turned out to be not that bad (more blood than actual damage...even stayed calm enough that we didn't rush off to the hospital!), and the kids had a fairly good time building Star Wars Legos (with help), watching movies, and playing at the neighborhood parks. We even survived a trip "out" to the movies and dinner!
Basically, except for the injury, things went a LOT better than I was fearing.
Of course, it would have been nice to have a more RELAXING four day weekend...but...ah well...
