Between you and me, and this needs to be kept between you and me, he's not well at all. When the Death Eater attacked his Mum, which I'm sure you've heard something about, he was tortured.

He hasn't really admitted all of that to me, but...I know well enough. He's hurting and I don't really know what to do about it.

Not to mention his Mum was attacked and he's still recovering from accidentally killing that guy during the raid on my building.

I heard bits and pieces. I had been taken off muggle relations and shoved on pain-by-exercise by the ministry at that point.

...I see. That's a mess, I must admit. Should he really be at work? Wouldn't he be better taking a break or something?

And he killed someone? Oh. So that's why he wasn't here. I did wonder.

But you can see he's off, and you know something must be up even if you hadn't heard what had happened. He's sick.

He should be. I really wish that the Ministry would just leave him alone for once, but even if they did he wouldn't stand for that. He needs to work, he says, he needs to be doing something useful. There's no use fighting with him because I'm not even sure if he'd end up worse off than he is now.

He did, accidentally. It's why he was suspended. He was saving me from someone and just misjudged his spell.

Well, yes, that's why I came and asked you, really, because I wasn't sure exactly what was up.

But...what if the Ministry end up sending him home anyway? I mean...he's useful, I'm learning. Mainly how to dodge things and what my lungs are for, but I'm learning. I just...even if he thinks he should be here, it's not a good idea. It's not going to make anything better, is it?

Oh, right. The aurors like to keep these things between themselves, for obvious reasons, I suppose.

Don't worry Arthur, your legs will get used to it soon. You'll thank us once this training saves your life.

Until then, I'm reserving my right to mumble and grumble.

You've got it easy. Time was when they'd chuck you in front of a few Dragons and whoever survived passed their training.

Oh, hush. I'll get Bill out to the garden with Charlie, we can go and see how Acacia and Amos are doing.
