And so, I finally caught Life of Pi with Eunice, and the movie was mind blowing. As a literature text, there's so much metaphors and hidden meanings to the story, it was necessary to review about it after. One quote that stuck me so hard was: "I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye." And so, I started googling for the meaning to it even though it was straight forward, I wanted to dig in more because I knew I would relate so fucking well to it. Essentially, what it meant was: closure matters.
It does, it really does. People leave without saying their goodbyes and it leaves this lingering feeling of regret and what ifs in you, it tortures you by the day. You can't start a new chapter with the previous chapter ending so abruptly. People should tie loose ends when a bond is being broken, being left behind or being abandoned. Its a bare minimum for being responsible to someone who was part of your life, may it be big, or small.
I hope you rot in hell for leaving the way you did. I really do.
Ending this post with a heavy heart and more impactful quote from the book: “It's important in life to conclude things properly. Only then can you let go. Otherwise you are left with words you should have said but never did, and your heart is heavy with remorse.”
