Six Things: I haven't updated in THREE MONTHS edition

1. Poetry. I took over the duties of scheduling Features for The Fuze, which is the Poetry Slam and Open Mic venue I'm supporting and representing. I'm very happy getting to pull in the artists whose influence I would love to see proliferate in the venue. I won Philadelphia's Literary Death Match - I got to fight a blind man and win a medal. I'm supporting the birth of Philadelphia's 2nd Poetry Slam venue "The Pigeon Presents: The Philadelphia Poetry Slam" ran by Jacob Winterstein and Alyesha Wise. Trying to build some bridges between venues this year.

2. Work. Working a job that I like. Not much more to say. Work used to be a monolithic thing in front of me from an alien realm. Now that I'm older it feels more like a familiar place. There have been some indications that I am well liked and am performing well. That's comforting, so are continued paychecks.

3. Hiking. Haven't been much. God I need to. Saw a stand-up heavy bag (punching bag) that I want. That's some home exercise I could get behind. The two kinds of physical activity I like the most: hitting and running.

4. My lady. Things are going well, we spend most weekends together. I'm helping her get some things under control in her life that have been bothering her. We're past the 6 month mark. I'm feeling more myself when I'm with her lately.

5. Vacation. Spent the better part of a week in New Orleans visiting friends over Thanksgiving. New Orleans is not even any part of America, it is instead New Orleans. I felt clean coming home and enjoyed some very busy hangout time with friends Jonathan and Bartlett. Sociopathic guy next to me on the flight down, free concert tickets randomly given to me, Laffitte's Blacksmithy/Bar, Yo Mama's burgers, boozing all day when we wanted, the avoiding of the tourist traps, live music everywhere. I recommend. You die incomplete if you don't ever get to New Orleans.

6. Halloween. We couldn't dance 30 seconds without getting our picture taken at The Henri David Ball. I've taken to making blueprints of Steampunk designs, maybe I'll keep one and sell two and pay for my ridiculous hobby. Oh yeah, I took my sweetie to Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary.

I had a birthday somewhere in there.

birthday, work, hiking, vacation, braciole, poetry
