CUPSI in greater linear detail

1. It's awe inspiring to see college students writing and performing at that level of competency. Some of them are 10 years ahead of the game. I'm not trying to be an asshole by appending "for their age" to a compliment like "Some were amazing" but it is what it is.

2. It's bittersweet to see 20 year olds pouring their guts out about things that are of the greatest emotional impact to 20 year olds. Some of those things shrink in the distance, some become nostalgia, some take root and define you.

3. It's funny to see the level of manic energy that goes into a performance where the performer has not yet learned restraint. It was like watching someone punch a doilie into place.

4. Those having-nothing-to-do-with-CUPSI fundraiser performances we saw those random kids trying to do inside of a Saladworks was four dimensional hyperspace of Fail. It was a multimedia extravaganza of Fail. It was a railroad Failspike through my skull. I wanted to die for them.

5. I think I saw every poet I know in Philly this weekend. I keep doing that.

6. The Finals stage saw a diverse set of work. It was so good to see that.

7. The U. Penn team did work that was so strong, no one can accuse them of home team advantage.
