So I guess I should start by laying a big one on ya: As I alluded to in my post yesterday, this morning I had a job interview. It was for a position as an assistant in cast communications, and should I get the job it means I'd be helping keep tabs on virtually all aspects of resort operations for the portal & company intranet. Plus I'd get to work alongside the people who produce a lot of the internal cast publications like the info guide & Resort Line, which made it (at least in my mind) seem like a good learning/networking experience and a potential stepping stone to higher positions either in communications or press/publicity, which is the intended post-college career track right now.
More importantly to work friends though, it means I'd be working full time at the Big Yellow Building Out Back. My Splasher/Pirate days would effectively be over by the end of this month.
I have mixed emotions about the whole prospect. Just getting the opportunity to work at DL, on two of my favorite rides no less, has been the fulfillment of my childhood dreams. True, it's had its ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. It's given me the opportunity to befriend so many of you, and I didn't have too many friends here when I drove down to Anaheim on a lark one afternoon in January last year and returned home an attractions host. So all of that I'm thankful for.
But on the other foot, I know I can't work the Splashy Log Ride all my life -- that's going to end sooner than later. I've always said that if I can find a good job with this company that I enjoy doing, plus pays the student loan bills and allows me to have a decent place, start a family & do all those things people associate with getting older, then I'd be happy to do it. This seems like a great way to move closer to accomplishing that objective. I'd miss being in the park and seeing all of you every day dearly, but it's been a great run and I realize that it could all end today and I'd be satisfied with how things turned out.
All that being said, I'm still going to see all of you around. That won't change. I'm still in Anaheim five days a week. I'm moving into Karly's this week, remember?
And I won't even know if I got the job or not until next week. So don't worry about any of the above too much... lord knows I'm trying desperately not to.

So anyway, today was my last day of school for this year. I'm getting a B+ in one class (pretty marvy), and it sounds like I'm getting a D+ in another. Bummer. Last time I got one of those was... um, never. I guess you could say I was due. My other two grades will fall somewhere between this range, so it won't be my worst semester at USC but I really should have done better. I'm sure happy this one's over, though.
I loves me some Foo Fighters. Here's the track listing for my mix CD:
(1) All My Life (2) The One (3) Learn to Fly (4) Hey, Johnny Park! (5) Low (6) Times Like These (7) This is a Call (8) Breakout (9) My Hero (10) Big Me (11) Stacked Actors (12) For All the Cows (13) I'll Stick Around (14) Aurora (15) Doll (16) Monkey Wrench (17) Tired of You (18) Everlong (19) Walking After You (20) Next Year
"Hey, a bighorn! That's why I come up here..."
"Mmmm, you're hungry... you don't even blink, do you?"
"Quick! You, me, staring contest, NOW!!"
"You win, you always do... NATURE, Goulet!"
The plan: drink BEER (well, maybe), start packing up my room, move some of my stuff to Garden Grove tomorrow, work the evening, come back & move the rest of it down Thursday, work Grad Nite (wheeeee!!), nap, work Friday evening, drive to SD, order my parking permit for next year Saturday morning, go to a wedding, drive back up Sunday for work.
Say goodbye, now... I'll be coming home next year.
