It was a red letter year for Vividcon! So many amazing vids and people in one place. I attend a lot of cons year round, but this is the one where everyone speaks my fandom language fluently. And I'm super pleased that I finally managed to talk
bendtothesun,
bessyboo,
platinumvampyr, and
moonling into coming. ETA: And singing along to
Debauchery in the UK at karaoke with them was so much fun! Despite how sober I was for it! ♥♥♥
So one day, a couple weeks before the Vividcon submission deadline,
lunate8 and I went out to lunch and she asked me, "Jo, should I make a live action version of
I Swear for Vividcon?" and I replied "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? OF COURSE YOU SHOULD." Because I am a hopeless enabler. So she rallied the local fangirls between myself,
bessyboo,
xanatenshi, and
bitterlotus. We parked illegally. We stole ketchup packets from a local McDonalds for fake blood. We broke for shawarma. It was so worth it. And quite difficult to keep secret for so long! Did anyone see my poker face at Mystery Vid Party when the original I Swear came up at random? That and during the Vid Review when someone commented on
Anything for Love and how we do crazy things in fandom out of love? Yeah.
Speaking of Mystery Vid Party! SO MANY PEOPLE. I think we easily had twice the number as previous years. You guys are awesome, but I don't think there's a bigger hotel room we can hold it in. ♥
Club Vivid was fantastic, as it always is. I'm so pleased that
rhoboat's vids
That's Not My Name and
Superfreak went over so well and I still can't believe she made them based off my tweets.
I can say with conviction that my Leslie Knope costume was a success! People who didn't even watch the show told me it was perfect. I was both Captain America and Winter Soldier endorsed. I think I made
sisabet cry just by existing, which I believe is only fair since that happens to me every time I watch
Fly.
Vividcon, you beautiful tropical fish. Never change. Or do if you want, I'm not your boss.
I'll have the annual massive vid rec post of doom up (hopefully) soonish. And hello, new friends! :D
