Oh my goodness, look at this comment! You always leave such thoughtful and lengthy feedback. Thank you so much! ♥
First of all, the music! Sublime choices (though some of them are from the fic?) but also the sound levels and mixing were very finely done, not obtrusive at all. Really added a lot to the experience. Also some of my favorite artists, Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed...
All the music included is either directly in the fic or indirectly referenced in it, with the exception of Lou Reed. Perfect Day is just a song that I've always related to the Paradox Series and its indie music heart. And it was too good not to use for this chapter, given Sherlock's idea of the perfect day. :)
Thought the Pashtun words came out well, sounded natural and not forced or rehearsed....
There was so much googling for pronunciation and I'm still not certain I got them anywhere near correct. But I'm pleased they came out sounding natural!
How you read Sherlock's pouting at being denied "Perfume" was so funny and sort of childlike - as a side note, have you read that book? I can completely see where John's coming from in that passage.
Reading for pouty/sulking Sherlock is a lot of fun. I've not read Perfume, but back when I first read this fic, I looked up the wiki page for it and yes, John's reaction to it makes perfect sense, haha.
John's barely restrained and then not restrained anger, and Sherlock's cool response. Too cool - and that is why it must be difficult to balance the two voices - because John is more comprehendible, and Sherlock is percieving things in a profoundly different, sort of askew way...
I re-recorded this section quite a few times to get it right. My neighbors probably think I'm a crazy woman from all the shouting at myself I did.
Mycroft - I love your Mycroft. He's so gracefully long-suffering...
Victory! I had some difficulty with getting his voice the way I wanted it to sound.
I'm so pleased all the music and effects worked for you! As lunchy will attest, I spent long months agonizing over how to incorporate the all the fic's stylized text and lyrics into the reading and her advice was invaluable.
Thank you again for all your lovely comments on bits of the reading! I treasure them all.
