I'm fresh back from this year's
CONvergence Programming meeting and chock full of ideas. As usual, there are a few panels I reaaaaaaallly want to run and to make them happen I need 2-3 other people to sit them with me.
So, if you're interested in any of these, drop me a note with your name and email address so I can pass it along to CVG Programming with my request to run the panel. Replies are screened! If you prefer though, you can email my your intention via my username at gmail.com.
BBC's Sherlock
Like you expected otherwise of me.
Slash Panel
Another that goes without saying. So far, I know that
bessyboo is in! Who else?
Valuing Female Fanworks
I may think of a catchier name than this, but basically
lunate8 and I were despairing over the lack of credit women get when it comes to fanworks on our way back from the meeting and pretty much decided there needs to be a panel about it. Fanfiction is often derided compared to pro-fiction, vids are overlooked in favor of mashups, podficcers are considered weird while amateur radio dramatists are lauded, etc. We've been here and doing this for years, so what gives? This would be a panel for this history of women in fandom and about how awesome we are. Also, a lot of catharsis.
Transformative Works
A panel for talking meta-fandom from fanfic to art to vids to podfic. This was a fantastic panel last year and I feel like we only scratched the surface of it, so I'd like to do it again. I think I've got a couple people already interested who I ran into at the meeting. :)
Fan Vidding
I want to try and do vid related programming again at the con. I'm thinking of this panel as one more along the lines of "Vids 101" where we explain what fan vids are, who makes them, where to find them, and why they're awesome. There would, of course, be examples shown. I've run into so much confusion about what vids are in the past with CVG attendees that this is probably the best way to go about a vidding panel for the con.
Anime 101
I'm not going to mourn this one if it doesn't go through, but it's been a while since the con has had a "So you want to get into anime?" type of panel and I feel like it's about time to have it again. Plus, more anime programming is always a good thing.
And that's pretty much it. Not a lot from me this year, but I've been trying to scale back a bit anyway. If I think of anything else, I'll make a new post for it.
P.S.
belindabird, I assume you will want to do Shiny New Anime, yes? I'm going to leave that one up to you for submission, but count me in for sure!
P.P.S.
deadlegato, Scifi/Fantasy Improv, Y/N? Again, I'll leave it to you for submission, but me and my squeaky mallet of doom are in.
