So I made a vidlet back in 2003 for The Mountie Song by The Arrogant Worms and set to Due South.
Exhibit A: My version of
The Mountie Song It's so old it predates even my LiveJournal.
Anyway, I was bumming around tumblr today, as you do, and ran across another vid someone had shared set to The Mountie Song.
Exhibit B:
Some of it is eerily similar to my little vidlet, which sent me into panic mode because I always suspected that I could not have been the only Due South fan who thought this song would vid well. So I went looking for its creation date to compare it to my own thinking that perhaps I had seen this vid first and subconsciously used parts of the exact same scenes.
Turns out the creator mentions having seen a much shorter version uploaded to YouTube that inspired her to complete the vid using the whole song, and when you search "Due South Mountie Song" on YT you come up with her vid and my vidlet that someone uploaded.
Exhibit C:
The person who uploaded it has declined all credit to its creation, so whatever. I'm not angry about it. I'm just sort of shocked and flattered that it has 37,000+ views. o_O
I'm also glad someone took it upon themselves to finish it out since I obviously never bothered.
Anyway, tl;dr, I should probably upload the handful of vids I've actually made to YouTube since other people are doing it for me anyway. And the moral of the story is always put your name on your vids, kids.
ETA: SWEET HOLY VIEWCOUNT, BATMAN. I just ran a search for my other vids and found
Gay Boyfriend which I knew someone had already uploaded to YouTube, but hadn't looked at in a while. It has over 130,000 views. O_o
