Me? I made an icon for this in 2006.

Yep. yep. It remains a beautifully obvious appropriation, doesn't it? Is there a better one yet?

I would disagree with the idea that Vesper was always in control. She was betraying her country because her kidnapped French-Algerian boyfriend was being threatened with death. While the scene coming out of the water was supposed to be reminiscent of Ursala Andress in Dr. No, the torture scene with Bond was directly from the novel just about word-for-word. Since Casino Royale was the first Bond story ever written, it isn't a play on any tropes that followed in later books/movies.

Yeah, I've read the book and seen Dr. No a number of times. I was very, very into Bond fandom back in the day. My point is less to do with the specifics of the observation and more to do with the fact that it is surprising to these guys that Bond can be viewed as a sex object.

It is kind of odd that they wouldn't view Bond as such. One of the main selling points of the character has always been, "women want him, men want to be him." I think there just hasn't been such an in your face glamour shot of Bond himself in the movies in a long time. I think there were a couple of similar shots of Connery in his early films. Daniel Craig is definitely the most athletic looking of the Bond's. That shot was great for the advertising to bring women back to the franchise. I'm just glad they are finally back in production again. I'd have hated to only have had two Daniel Craig Bond films. It would have been a terrible waste.

BTW I was at Borders yesterday before the Detour meeting and they had their calendars on clearance for $1. Coincidentally, I picked up the James Bond 2011 calendar.

Also, I'm not sure if they really thought about how the stick would look with the rest of it.

Ha, yes. I've seen that before, but not in a while. It's still worth a good laugh. :)

I saw from the date that it was an old link, but (pardon the pun) it came up again today on FB.
