Hm.

I've never seen fit to post about Glee before. But now I need to post about Glee.

I have concerns.

I like Glee all right. I'm not really fannish about it. I like watching it, but mostly for the musical numbers. And Kurt. And Kurt's dad. As I've professed on multiple prior occasions to multiple people.

Let me re-emphasize something: KURT'S DAD. BEST TV DAD EVER, ONLY SECOND TO KEITH MARS. YOU CANNOT HURT KURT'S DAD WITHOUT EMOTIONALLY COMPROMISING ME.

Fucking Yentl cover, making me cry. Fucking Beatles cover. MAKING ME CRY. A LOT.

But it was all mixed up with their take on atheism. And I really don't trust this show to take that on. Which I was mostly right about.

I'm upset that atheism was portrayed as being deficient in some way. Like not believing in some kind of God equals not having a reason to live. Or not believing in your friends. Well. Yeah, it does fucking suck as an atheist when something tragic happens and there's not some higher power to lessen that hurt in some way. But buying into a belief when you're emotionally vulnerable doesn't make it right or true either. Life is hard. People get sick. People die. And it fucking sucks. That is life though and you shoulder your way through it. Higher power or no. The choice is up to the person and no one, NO ONE, should be pressured into it. Especially at emotionally vulnerable times.

I don't think Kurt should have been offended by his friends praying for his dad. But I don't think he needs to find God to fucking get through this thing either. And I'm annoyed and saddened that instead of his friends doing things to help Kurt they chose instead to pressure him into accepting their religion. Not doing simple, helpful things for him like helping pay for the acupuncture. Or checking in on him. Bringing him dinner. Things that would convey that they are THERE FOR HIM IF HE NEEDS IT when he needed support the most.

News flash: IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU. SO STEP OFF, OKAY?

Sue is played for laughs pretty much always. And I'm pretty sure that the intention with her prompting Kurt to file a complaint was so that we could see her be EVIL BAD PERSON like always. But I'm reading from the other side of the text. And I'm with her 100% on that one.

Although Grilled Cheesus was pretty hilarious, I'll give it that.
