I am back from Topshop Student Night and thus its time for my SJA review post. I spent far too much in Topshop, but I have nice new dresses and an owl brooch. I love owls.
First and foremost, I will say now that I enjoyed this episode. I enjoyed it alot more than Day of the Clown. But perhaps that's because there was a clown involved, and I don't like no clowns.
Ok, so! Blimey, this series is so good thus far and it can only really get better and deserves a better timeslot and to be liberated from the stigma of being a CBBC show. Seriously, if SJA wasn't advertised as a CBBC show, I imagine it'd do so much better that its already doing.
Back to Secrets..., it starts with Russ Abbot whom I've never really come across before on TV, so I have no idea what he's usually like, but he's doing well thus far, its only when he posessed does he go rather hammy. But that can easily be blamed on the Ancient Lights entity. Yes, I am a Watsonist. Mostly.
Enough about him, lets talk about team!SJ. I officially love the Chandras. Especially Gita, I think she's great. I'm quite taken to Rani too. But just look at her parents;
JUST LOOK AT THEM! THEY'RE SO CUTE!
Also; its nice that Sarah's going out with other adults on her accord. Though I totally agree with Gita, Sarah needs a night out. Preferably with Jo and Liz in a bar somewhere. Oh shush, leave my personal UNIT canon alone.
Luke's is angsting again because he doesn't have a birthday, I always presumed he just used the day he was found (or 'activated' as he seems to like to call it). They also failed to answer just when this day was, so we may never know when Invasion of the Bane was set.
Then they're all sat in the theatre and Russ Abbot knows alot about Sarah's past and apparently does not ship Doctor/Sarah, but that's ok, because neither did I. And although it was nice to see flashbacks of the Tenth Doctor, it would have been nice to see Three and Four clips but I can totally understand why though.
Admittedly, I was slightly distracted throughout that whole scene;
HELLO BOOBS!
I'm sure I read in DWM that SJA team have to make sure that not too much cleavage is ever shown. I just found it amusing that through out that dramatic little scene all I could see was Sarah... and a pair of breasts.
Erm, but I liked Haresh in this too, how he hid behind his program and saw that Russ Abbot was upsetting Sarah.
Then Sarah, Luke and Clyde all go back to Sarah's and try to figure out what the flip is going on. They don't make much in the way of progress, but that's ok because;
I dunno, Flist. Its as if they want us to start shipping it. They're just all over each other at times, well, mostly it seems to be Clyde grabbing onto Luke. I wouldn't be surprised in ten years there's a CiN Doctor Who/subdisaries special, wherein Clyde and Luke work for Torchwood or something and are totally gay for each other. Personally, I'd reckon they'd join UNIT, but Torchwood is just gheyer.
I digress.
Following morning, Luke is watching Saturday Cooks? Saturday Kitchen? Whatever, its that cookery program thats on Saturday mornings on the BBC. Nice to see he's not watching News 24 for a change though. Still, its Saturday morning, why is he dressed?! Why does he even have shoes on!? The mind boggles. Anyway, he continues to wangst about lack of birthday and then Sarah attempts to confort him. I love these cuddly domestic scenes, I felt I was slightly robbed of them last series, so I'm glad they're making up for it. However, I noticed something in this scene too;
Look! There! Behind Sarah's right sholder! That's a photo of Luke, supposedly from The Lost Boy wherein it was meant to be Ashley Stafford. As a Watsonist, I can not explain this in-verse. But, the concept of having photos of Luke around the house is really nice though.
I've just realised I'm more or less summing up the whole episode. Not good! So I will stop, and just jump to this:
Oh Clyde, you're so messianic. I love me some religious imagery in the morning. Evening. Mid-afternoon.
All in all, an enjoyable romp, I liked it, I liked it more than last week's episode. I love the Chandras. I look forward to the next episode even if the resolution is just a bit predictable (c'mon, Luke wangsting all episode because he doesn't have a date of birth ergo doesn't have a starsign and ergo, can not be controlled by Russ Abbot).
I'm really tired. I got about three hours sleep in the end.
