And we're off like a herd of turtles!

So I am reading this book for my crashingly dull Latin American Origins and Transformations class, Peasant and Nation. It's a pretty hardcore read, to be the first book of the semester. It's good - she's a solid Marxian historian, and would have been my advisor had I gone to University of Wisconsin, which was one of my top choices. It's dense, though. Whereas normally with a somewhat heavy theoretical book I would have to make deals with myself about what I get to do at the end each chapter, I'm bribing myself over sets of 10 pages!

Felix is restless enough to power small industrial countries with his energy, the poor baby. I've taken the dogs on Car Ride Adventures, both yesterday and today, hoping that would help, but it hasn't. They don't like walking in the rain, as I do, so I haven't been able to take them on a proper walk at all. Perhaps tomorrow, I will drive them over to the Maryland campus to have a nice walk.

My sister arrives tomorrow to visit me for three days. I'm very much looking forward to that. I wish I could have gotten my Magic Check before she came, so that she could help me go treasure-hunting for all the things I need for the apartment. No such luck, though. Hopefully, when trisket876 comes to town, she'll be up for it, as I should have the Loot by then.

Apparently, the Smithsonian Museum of American History is closing Tuesday for two years, for renovations. I'm going to see if my sister is willing to go with me tomorrow or Monday. I've seen the museum, though it's been years, and I'd like to see it again, before it closes for two years. Today, I caught the oddities and obscurities exhibit at the DAR, about which I learned from wundershonedame, who was too busy packing to go today. Next weekend, I think I shall drag Trisket to the National Archives, as I drove past there today, and they have a very cool-looking "Eyewitness" to history exhibit going. I don't think I'll have to twist her arm too hard!

Ugh, back to Peasant and Nation. Someone save me from this hell! *dramatic arm to brow* Oh, wait, I chose this life... I'm living my dream... *sigh* Okay, don't save me.
