2. The Family Trade (Charles Stross)
As
promised, I have started reading Stross. This is the first in his Merchant Princes series. I read it in only a couple of days, which, recent history considered, is a little amazing. I went to the library the next day to get the second book. All of that said, I still haven't decided whether or not I think it's actually good. I enjoyed it very much, yes. The premise, that there are people who can walk between our world and another, parallel, one, is one that's been done before, but there's room to do it again, and he does develop a different method and story around it. I guess it's just sometimes in danger of being a little cheesy. I did really enjoy it, though, and I'll read more. Maybe I'll have more meaningful insight once I get further into the series. There are seeds of serious development that I hope will bear fruit.
