Well that was probably the least fun bit of snow shoveling I've ever done. Probably because it wasn't really snow. Oh, it looked like snow, but it was a dirty, dirty liar. It was lead, in slush form. And it was hiding a lake underneath it. No sooner did I remove one shovelful then, I shit you not, an inch and a half of water would rush into the empty space. I got the front walkway clear, about ten feet at the top of the driveway, and a path the width of the shovel all the way to the end of the driveway so I could retrieve the garbage can and the mail. Then I tried to clear the turnaround so the lake could drain into the yard. Not so much. I got halfway through that, including pitching shovelfuls of just water off the driveway, before I gave up. Even my blisters have blisters. Plus, the whole time I was doing this it was raining. Nothing I was wearing was dry by the time I was done, not even my belt. Waterproof jacket, my ass. I was soaked all the way down to my bra.
Plus, typical, when I don't want him around he shows up, and when he says he's going to come over and snowblow the driveway he's nowhere to be found or reached. I have the sneaking suspicion that I'm going to wake up tomorrow and my driveway is going to be a solid sheet of ice three inches thick. I just hope I'll be able to get the car out tomorrow night. *sigh*
