-flashback-
There were no rules.
She wasn't asking for any.
But wasn't something implied? Wasn't there a certain degree of care that they had reached, some sort of...communion? An unsaid bond?
Apparently not. That tan, beautiful, foreign bitch was still his shadow. She still followed him around, gazing at him as a hero, her own personal hero. And maybe he fucking was, but wasn't he hers too? She was sick of thinking about him all the time. She didn't need a hero.
Revenge wasn't her type of game, usually. Actually, she didn't play games. She liked straightforward and to the point relationships. But it was such an opportunity. And it wasn't like James was that much...different? Okay, maybe he was. But she still slept in his tent a few nights. Whatever he assumed was his own mind forming a jealous monster. But it all came back to that bitch. Ana Lucia? Who has two names? She kept wanting to come to her senses because truthfully, it might not have been Ana's fault. But while she could, she placed all the blame on her. That bitch.
"I know that look, Freckles," James droned, a smirk upon his face. She turned to him, a disapproving look in her green eyes. "Doc over there doesn't give a shit. Stop pretending your prince charming is coming and just have some fun with me already, huh?"
She took a last glance at him, that hero. He laughed, enjoying the day with the girl who she wasn't.
