Happy This Year, Self!

Nov 17, 2010 12:35

(I posted this in my other journal as well, but I like to keep a running tab on myself all over the place.... :P)

(I posted this as a facebook note, but honestly, I'm a little tapped out for energetic writings this morning, so in leu of something newer and more awesomer.....)

Seriously, new friends and old... You have no idea how much it means to me every time one of you “likes” some random piece of writing I do, or any of the ways you all support me and my various ventures, ontological or otherwise. I feel like you're all such a great network of friends, acquaintances, and really, really attractive people.

Anyway, I'm going out on a limb and saying that 31 was the best year of my life thus far, and I can't help but notice that things seem to have an endless capacity for improvement (much like myself)... So, as drippy as it may seem, I cannot help but to be filled with a huge charge of optimistic energy going into this, the darkest and thereby most awesome time of the years.

I went out for a walk this morning, while my lover slumbered. I stood in the pouring rain of the storm, at the edge of the seawall, and looked out over choppy black waves under and endless sky of sheltering, water-smudged greys.

My handfuls of little black birds, wet as porpoises and twice as playful, danced around in the wind with me. It was cold and so very, very wet. At my feet, where the waves hit the seawall, the ocean was clear like glass - you could see through to the strange lands that roll on forever beneath the water, all shimmering with mystery and potential.

Now my famous blue raincoat is soaked through to my bones. My tea is warm, and my pyjamas are comfy.

And believe it or not, it's all made better by you.

So thanks for sharing it with me.

awesomeness, birthday
