As most of you probably don't know I had my (first) cadaver observation today in my A&P lab. There were two cadavers: a male (60-70 years; died of cancer), and a female (60-70; died of...natural causes?). The skin was peeled off on some areas (the back, an arm, part of the leg, and the chest), and I got to see some muscles, bones, ribs, spine, tendons in the hand and arm, and the gluteus muscles. At first I was completely and unabashedly stoked. When I got into the chiller and I saw the stainless steel tables with body bags, I became a lot nervous. I was, however, the only student with gloves on actually touching the muscles and bones. Most of the others either had their noses closed, or were hovering over the trash cans. I have officially decided that after I get my RN I am going to have the hospital pay for med school. I've decided to go for doctor. I had so much fun actually observing these bodies....wow, this sounds macabre. Long story short: this was one of the coolest most life-changing experiences of my 20 years.
WOAH!
