wow my life is really, really.. really dry. been working, but for i don't even know what. paychecks have been going toward... food. seriously.
been wanting to play magic in real life, but i'm too caught up with online PDC which i find much more interesting. i was thinking of playing the yugioh SJC on july 26th, but it's not worth spending $300+ on since i don't even play anymore. i could have borrowed joseph's deck (since he is going to the philippines) but he decided not to lend it to me, because he's lame like that.
i guess i've returned to the mood where i'm no longer avoiding people (everyone), and will speak if spoken to as opposed to feigning absence. i'm always there if you can see i'm there.
So after finally getting tired of being the only member scoring points in "Everything in Common", I decided to leave. My status as second on the list in regards to points earned was bound to get me somewhere. And it did, I guess. Immediately after leaving EiC, Princes of Pauper, PDC Planeswalkers, and PDC Deck Lab came to pick me up. I decided to accept the invitation from PDC Deck Lab, since they're all very skilled players and are in the top range of points. I thought it would be simple, but I ended up having to go through a ridiculously long interview with Kingritz to get in.
When I got in I looked through the thread in the clan forum where the members discussed my approval, and not surprisingly, half the clan was addressing me as "she". Er yeah, people thought I was a girl again. :///
Immediately after joining on Monday, I played MPDC to a 2-1 finish, getting 9th I believe. Sucks but what can you do.
On Tuesday, I decided to netdeck my clanmate Boin's Mono-Black Control, changing the sideboard a little.
Decklist:
http://pdcmagic.com/gatherling/deck.php?mode=view&event=TPDC%208.15Round 1, I was paired against the host's BR control deck, which I managed to completely out-CA 2-0.
Round 2, I was paired against this dude's GB persist/dredge deck. My sideboard tech of 3 Faerie Macabre worked really well, and I ended up taking it 2-0.
Round 3, I was paired against GU Deep Dog (Wild Mongrel/Threshold with Deep Analysis and light permission), which I got destroyed by, 0-2.
I managed to top 8, and was paired against another Mono-Black control deck which I utterly outplayed 2-0.
Top 4 was a matchup against Mono-Red Goblinstorm which I honestly could have won 2-0 while asleep.
The finals was a mirror match against Boin. Pretty much it was a win-win situation since our clan would be earning 17 points regardless of who won. I ended up winning 2-0 through the use of Crypt Rats stack tricks.
On Wednesday, I heard that the Guildpact Enhanced creatures and Okiba-Gang Shinobi were fixed. This clearly meant that I -had- to play Orzhov.
Decklist:
http://pdcmagic.com/gatherling/deck.php?mode=view&event=XPDC%203.03Round 1 I was paired against a UR Goblinstorm deck, which is seriously one of the most favourable matchups one could imagine. He drew the nuts in game 1, and I couldn't win. In games 2 and three, I predicted his sideboard plan completely (he would board out parts of the combo for 15 suspend creatures) and smashed him. He called me a "fuking luck sack" and I asked him if he was mad.
Second round, I was paired against Boin's Ub Teachings, which was ridiculously tough to beat. I ended up managing to sneak in a few Mulldrifters which obviously put me way ahead. I won 2-1 in three epic games.
Round 3, I was paired against Goblinstorm again, and he couldn't go off both games.
Top 8, I got to play against GR spicy stompy (land destruction), which is normally a 30% matchup for me. I played it smart by dropping Terramorphic Expanses (and not cracking them) until turns where I could play out a threat, forcing him to either deal with the threat and miss playing LD, or playing out his LD and falling behind to the threat. In game 2 of this one, I sideboarded in Pillory of the Sleepless, which he had zero outs for. 2-0.
In the top 4, I had a ridiculously hard match against khirareq's "Steam Machine" (UR Control). In game 1, I fell behind on land drops and couldn't find a fourth land from turn 4 til 10. Games 2 and three, I managed to race him and burn him out with Blind Hunters. Sneaking in Mulldrifters was also huge.
In the finals, I got to play against some nub running White Weenie. In game 1, I was just too far behind to even have a chance in the match, and he swept it. In game 2, I got the Orzhov Curve off (turn 2 rats, turn 3 flyer, turn 4 flyer, turn 5 drifter) while he was behind on land. In game 3 he had to mulligan to 4. Nuff said.
So basically I managed to win two nights in a row, which is sick. I feel that I've gotten a lot better recently, and that I was pretty much trash at Magic until April.
er yeah. later.
